The second amendment is for everyone

Before we get into this, I just want to make it clear that I am a Christian (as in Jesus died on the cross, rose again in 3 days and I accepted him as my savior). I believe Jesus Christ is the ONLY path to eternal life with God. I believe other “religions” are lost and their eternity is going to be a lot bleaker than they realize. I also believe there is a huge problem with Muslim terrorism and the lack of condemnation from “peaceful Muslims” around the world is troubling. I am not a Muslim apologist. You will never find a “COEXIST” sticker on my car. To be blunt, they are wrong and someday they will face the ultimate punishment unless they confess and accept Jesus Christ.

Ok, now that’s out of the way. The second amendment was written for everyone, regardless of sex, sexual orientation or, religion.  If you’ve been paying attention in the gun community, you may have heard about two gun shops (one in Florida and one in Kentucky*) that recently declared their establishments to be “Muslim free zones”.  By denying one group access to the basic human right of self protection they are taking the constitution they claim they stand for, ripping it apart, and stomping all over it. In one statement they are upset with Obama for possibly keeping those on Social Security from owning/buying guns and in the next sentence they make their own “these people cannot own a gun” statement.

All of this reminds me of an incident I had at a gun shop here in Charlotte. I was shopping for a new AR when a middle eastern man came in with a Smith and Wesson M&P 9mm he just purchased. He wanted the gunsmith to take a look at it and make sure all was right with it. I started chatting with him a little. It was obvious he didn’t know much about guns and wasn’t sure if the gun he had was reputable or not. I reassured him that he had a good pistol and our police department carried that gun.

I asked him what made him decide to get one and he said (paraphrased) I just moved here from Saudi Arabia and people look at me and think I am a terrorist. I’m not but my family is getting threats. This is just for protection.

Everyone in this country has the right to protect themselves and these gun shops pulling this are a disgrace to the second amendment and the gun community as a whole. Their refusal to serve the middle eastern family down the street isn’t going to do anything to stop ISIS or other Muslim terrorists. Do you really think ISIS is going to mom and pop gun shops and filling out 4473 forms in order to obtain a Glock? All you’re doing is spreading hate and bigotry. Your “Muslim free” charade will do nothing to stop terrorism.

If the customer is a law abiding citizen and can pass a background check then they should be welcomed to buy self protection (a gun) at any shop in this great nation, regardless of who or what they worship (or don’t worship).

Someday that “Muslim” you refused to sell a gun to may be the very one who has your back if SHTF and you’ll thank the gun shop that rose above ignorance and bigotry and sold that law abiding citizen a gun.

*I wrestled with naming these gun shops, but didn’t want to give them more publicity than they already have.

  1. WELL SAID. As a Second Amendment supporter, I cringed when I heard these gun shops do that. 100% BS what they did. The 2nd is for all law abiding citizens.

  2. Ehh, it looks like some terrorists may just be willing to fill out 4473s, but that doesn’t change my stance on this. Religion should not be a factor in deciding who gets to own a gun and who doesn’t .
